Product description
Compiled from the existing technical description of this product on this site
The Type 308 self-tapping insert (three-hole type) has three cutting round holes in its body. When screwed in, the cutting edges at the hole positions cut the mating thread in the base material, allowing installation without pre-tapping. Suitable for soft materials and castings, it significantly improves thread strength and wear resistance and is often used for repairing damaged threaded holes.

FAQ
Material, standards, surface treatment and installation points for this model; the data comes from the specification table on this page and from the national standards cited in the answers.
Q1What material does the Type 308 self-tapping insert use? What strength level does it reach?
Specified in the specification table on this page: material carbon steel / stainless steel. A material certificate and mechanical property test report can be provided with the goods; batch acceptance is carried out in accordance with the above specifications.
Q2Which surface treatments are available for the Type 308 self-tapping insert? How do I choose?
Surface treatment specified in the specification table on this page: zinc-plated / passivated (optional). Different coatings differ in appearance, corrosion resistance and cost; select according to the service environment and the order agreement.
Q3In which applications is the Type 308 self-tapping insert used?
Typical applications listed in the product description on this page: plastic and composite parts; aluminium-zinc alloy castings; cast iron and die castings; repair of damaged threaded holes. Overview: The Type 308 self-tapping insert (three-hole type) has three cutting round holes in its body. When screwed in, the cutting edges at the hole positions cut the mating thread in the base material, allowing installation without pre-tapping.
Q4How is the Type 308 self-tapping insert installed? What should be noted?
Specified in the specification table on this page: installation by direct screwing. Hole diameter and plate thickness should match the recommended values for the model; a trial installation is recommended for confirmation before volume production.
Q5How is a self-tapping insert such as the Type 308 installed?
Both are self-tapping thread inserts. First pre-drill the pilot hole as required by the model, then use a dedicated installation tool to screw the insert in until flush with the end face; the insert’s own threads cut or form the thread in the pilot hole. Pilot hole diameter and depth follow the recommended values for each model; do not force the insert in. This is a functional explanation; for verification refer to GB/T 196 and GB/T 197. Data for this model is subject to the specification table on this page. (Applies to this model: “Type 308 self-tapping insert”.)
