Product description
Compiled from the existing technical description of this product on this site
The Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert has slotted cutting edges on its outer diameter. When screwed into the base material, it cuts the mating thread itself, without pre-tapping. Once installed, the insert and the base material form a tight interlock, providing a reliable internal thread in soft materials (plastic, aluminium, cast iron) and significantly improving the thread load capacity and wear resistance of the base material.

FAQ
Material, standards, surface treatment and installation points for this model; the data comes from the specification table on this page and from the national standards cited in the answers.
Q1What material does the Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert use? What strength level does it reach?
Specified in the specification table on this page: material stainless steel / carbon steel. A material certificate and mechanical property test report can be provided with the goods; batch acceptance is carried out in accordance with the above specifications.
Q2To which standard is the Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert manufactured and inspected?
Standards specified in the specification table on this page: per customer drawing / corporate standard (Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert); threads GB/T 196, GB/T 197. A dimensional inspection report can be provided with the goods; batch acceptance is carried out in accordance with the above standards and the drawings agreed by both parties.
Q3Which surface treatments are available for the Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert? How do I choose?
Surface treatment specified in the specification table on this page: zinc-plated / passivated (optional). Different coatings differ in appearance, corrosion resistance and cost; select according to the service environment and the order agreement.
Q4In which applications is the Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert used?
Typical applications listed in the product description on this page: plastic parts and wooden products; aluminium and zinc alloy castings; thread repair in cast iron parts; composite structures. Overview: The Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert has slotted cutting edges on its outer diameter; when screwed into the base material, it cuts the mating thread itself, without pre-tapping.
Q5How is a self-tapping insert such as the Type 302 installed?
Both are self-tapping thread inserts. First pre-drill the pilot hole as required by the model, then use a dedicated installation tool to screw the insert in until flush with the end face; the insert’s own threads cut or form the thread in the pilot hole. Pilot hole diameter and depth follow the recommended values for each model; do not force the insert in. This is a functional explanation; for verification refer to GB/T 196 and GB/T 197. Data for this model is subject to the specification table on this page. (Applies to this model: “Type 302 slotted self-tapping insert”.)
