Insert Screw Selection Guide
1. By drive system: TORX® vs TORX PLUS®
TORX® is a 15° drive-angle torx recess; TORX PLUS® uses a 0° drive-angle elliptical lobed profile with a larger bit contact area, transmitting higher torque in the same space with less recess wear and longer bit life. For highly automated lines and frequent tool changes, TORX PLUS® is recommended.
2. By head style
Choose a countersunk head (55°/60° — match the insert seat countersink angle) for flush mounting; cylindrical head Type A/B where the head may protrude and high torque capacity is needed; ball plungers for spring positioning; LH/RH double-end screws for bidirectional opposed locking.
3. By thread size
Follow the insert / tool-disk mounting hole: M2.5–M5 is common for insert clamping, M6–M8 for large tool disks and heavy-duty fixtures, M1.6–M2.2 for micro tools. Match the pitch to the internal thread of the hole (coarse and fine pitches are often available for the same diameter).
4. By material and environment
Standard is grade 12.9 alloy steel (black oxide / nickel plating); choose stainless steel or corrosion-resistant coatings for humid or coolant environments; aluminum / titanium are available for lightweight tools on request. For high-vibration conditions, combine LH/RH bidirectional locking or thread-locking adhesive.
5. Custom structures
Inner-outer thread inserts combine male and female threads in one part to simplify tool structure; extended cylindrical heads, special head shapes and custom recess depths are made to drawing with rapid sample validation.
