BUYER GUIDE

Clinch and Rivet Selection Guide

1. By sheet thickness

Clinch parts must match the panel thickness range, since the knurl embeds into it; for very thin sheets choose ultra-thin clinch types and for closed cavities choose blind rivet studs.

2. By installation method

With a press or punch choose the clinch series; where only one side is accessible (tubes, box interiors) choose blind-rivet studs.

3. By function

For a thread choose nuts or studs, for grounding choose grounding clinch studs, for sealing choose sealed versions.

4. By sheet material

Aluminium, cold-rolled and stainless sheets need different knurl forms and hardness, and hard sheets need matched prepunched hole sizes.

5. Hole size

Clinch and blind rivet parts are sensitive to prepunched hole tolerance — request the recommended hole table by part number.

FAQ

Clinch and Rivet FAQ

Q1Clinch or blind rivet — how do I choose?

If both sides are accessible and a press is available, choose clinch (stronger and cheaper); if only one side is accessible or the cavity is closed, choose blind-rivet studs.

Q2How much torque can a clinch joint take?

Strength depends on sheet thickness, material and knurl match; for typical cabinet work torsional performance is ample, and test data can be supplied for a given load.

Q3Is grounding resistance reliable?

Grounding clinch studs create electrical continuity through metal-to-metal knurl contact with stable resistance, and are widely used in cabinet grounding systems.

Q4Can stainless sheet be clinched?

Yes, with a knurl form and hardness suited to stainless and slightly different prepunched hole sizes; the matching parameters are available.

Q5How well do sealed rivet nuts seal?

They form a face seal as they are set, combining a threaded joint with water protection — suited to outdoor sheet-metal equipment.

Q6Do you support custom parts?

Yes — special lengths, head styles and combined structures can be made to drawing with fast sampling.
