Why Fasteners Loosen Under Vibration
A: Fastener loosening is a common problem under vibration, and in aerospace, robotics, rail transit and similar fields it can cause equipment faults, loss of function and even safety incidents. The core reason is that the alternating load generated by vibration destroys the preload of the fastener, so that a gap appears in the threaded connection and loosening follows. Product Selection: Choose the Anti-Loosening Type by Vibration Level
On the product side, the anti-loosening fastener type is recommended to suit vibration level and working environment. For ordinary vibration, non-metallic insert lock nuts and nylon-insert lock bolts are used: an interference fit between the non-metallic insert and the thread raises friction and produces self-locking, which suits HVAC systems and electrical equipment. For high-frequency, severe vibration such as robot joints and rail transit components, an anti-loosening bolt combined with thread adhesive is recommended; the anaerobic adhesive cures into a high-strength bond that resists alternating load, and a locking washer is added to strengthen the effect further. For extreme vibration such as aerospace, customised anti-loosening fasteners are offered with a fine thread that enlarges the thread contact area and stabilises preload, together with an optimised bolt geometry that improves fatigue resistance.
Process Optimisation: Surface Treatment and Quenching and Tempering

Assembly Guidance: Preload, Double Nut and Re-tightening

Preload has to be applied strictly to standard before assembly, using an accurate torque wrench chosen for the fastener size and material, so that over-tightening does not plastically deform the bolt and under-tightening still provides enough clamp force. Double-nut locking follows the principle of thick below, thin above: the lower nut is tightened to the specified torque first, then the upper nut, so that a locking force forms between the two. After assembly the fasteners at critical locations are marked and re-tightening checks are carried out at intervals, especially during the initial trial run of the equipment, when preload is topped up in time.
